A request concerning the sale of imported gold bullion.2018/05/31
Customer Notification
A request concerning the sale of imported gold bullion.
From June 2018 customers who are non-residents of Japan (for example, customers who have traveled to Japan from overseas) in addition to presenting proof of identification (as previously) must also furnish copies of documentation verifying the payment of consumption tax, to be able to sell imported gold bullion. |
● Required documents
When the gold bullion to be sold has been brought in from overseas
We request the submission of copies of documentation (the "import declaration" or the "notice of tax payment / payment receipt" or the "import (tax payment) declaration form") proving that consumption tax for the gold bullion was paid when the gold bullion to be sold was brought into Japan.
When the gold bullion to be sold has been acquired in Japan
We request the submission of copies of documentation ("sales contract" or "receipt") that shows us that the gold bullion was acquired in Japan and that consumption tax for it has been paid.
Please note that even if you comply with the above-mentioned requests, we are required by the directives of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the National Public Safety Commission to confirm your contact details within Japan where you can be contacted, and we are also required to report any instances of "suspicious transactions" to these authorities. We ask for your understanding in these matters.
